Congrats to the winners!!!

>> Wednesday, March 2, 2011

So, Alisha, Mickelle, and Lisa all tied for 1st place-all getting the full points possible. Way to go!! Anyway, since there were three first place winners, we decided to forgo 2nd and 3rd place. So those of you who were in those ranks, reward yourself by indulging in your favorite treat and pat yourself on the back! I'm planning to mail a check ($65.00) to Mickelle and Lisa, but I don't have Alisha's info. I can give the money to Christy or you can give me your address. Good job guys!

Out with a bomb and not a Bang!

Okay everyone. I pretty much fizzled out this last week, but I didn't give up all together. 60 pts for me. At least I can say this has made me more aware of my bad habits and it has been good for me. Thanks to everyone who participated. We had some good competition.

Final Result For Me

>> Tuesday, March 1, 2011

I got 72 points this week. Thanks for letting me do the challenge with you guys. I would be surprised if I ever do it again because it was hard, hard, hard but I did lose weight which is what I was going for so thanks again. Hope, hope, hope I can keep it up but I don't know that I'll have the motivation to keep exercising seeing as I did very last thing most days and it ended up being midnight. We shall see. Thank you, thank you!

Not too impressive . . .

Sadly to say, Forrest and I really fizzled out for the last week. Too far behind and not enough will power. I feel safe to say we probably earned about 48 points each. But . . . . we have been exercising pretty faithfully and definitely plan to continue that as well as being careful. Thanks to everyone who participated and made it happen. You are all AWESOME.

Alisha - Last week!!

I made it!! I got all 72 points again for the last week...yay! I'm afraid I'm going to go back to my old habits now but I hope not! Thanks for letting me play, it was fun! I don't think I lost any weight or anything but I definitely felt a difference in how I felt. Here are a few easy and healthy recipes I tried out and liked (Enjoy!):

COTTAGE CHEESE PINK SALAD

  • 1 cup Cottage cheese

  • 1 cup yogurt

  • 3 cups berries (I used a thawed bag of frozen berries including raspberries and blackberries for the color)

  • 2 cup chopped pineapple

  • 2 bananas

SPINACH EGGS

2 Eggs,

2 scoops low fat Cottage Cheese,

10 Spinach Leaves,

dash Salt,

dash Pepper,

1 teaspoon Minced Garlic,

Preheat small skillet over medium heat. Combine all ingredients. Spray skillet and pour combined ingredients in to cook. Flip half way through cooking. Top omelet with salsa or avocado or both.

EASY CAULIFLOWER SOUP

2 cups cauliflower,

1 cup warm low fat milk,

2 Tbsp Parmesan cheese,

Season with salt, pepper, and parsley

Steam or roast chopped cauliflower. Put in blender and add the rest of the ingredients. Blend until smooth.

Sorry So Late

>> Sunday, February 27, 2011

Sounds like we are all trying to muscle through to the end.

I am late because I went out of town. I've been distracted to say the least as far as being home.
my points are lousy.

Didn't exercise all week due to being out of town. It's awful. I feel such a difference. The exercise is something I will definately be keeping up on when this is all over and done with.

keep on keeping on!

My total points for the week is 72. My hardest day is Tuesday because I work late and have to hurry home and finish getting all my points. One more week to go. I hope I can hang in there.

Aaron's Points

I did really well this week despite the fact that i went to Utah on vacation and my house was filled with goodies and soda. However, after reading the previous posts i fear that there is a multi vitamin curse. I FORGOT to bring my vitamins on the trip and i didn't even realize it until it was way too late. I lost 4 points this week. 3 for multi-vitamins and 1 for chocolate milk for a total of 68.

Christy's point for week 3

I got 71 points. Yes, that does take me out of the running with just one lousy point, but I feel pretty good about this week anyway. I took a trip to Florida, which included being stranded for the night in Houston. I found out that it is a lot of work to find healthy food while traveling, but it is possible. Ironically, I lost my point for forgetting to take my vitamin on the night I was stranded. Congrats to all those in first place, and to the rest of us too. For me, getting healthy is the most important thing.

Motivation shot!--Week 3 for Diana

Okay, so maybe this is a bad time of year to be doing the healthy challenge. It hard to get outdoors when it is cold and the sick season is upon us. Anyway, that is my excuse. Yes, I was sick again this week. We had the fun stomach bug hit our house, so that pretty much made my points a bomb. My point total was 66.

Alisha - Week 3!

This week was the hardest for me so far. I've been sick....bleh! I exercised late at night more days than not. It's so hard to wake up in the morning and do it when you're not feeling so hot. Somehow I managed to get all of my points!! I have found all sorts of yummy healthy meals. As soon as my computer is working properly I'll post some recipes!

We are running out of steam

>> Monday, February 21, 2011

So . . . we haven't done as well this week, but at least we haven't given up. Forrest lost 4 points on exercise, 2 points on sugar, and 1 point on water for a total of 65 points. I lost 4 points on exercise, and 1 point on water for a total of 67 points. We have found that we HAVE to do the exercise first thing in the morning and get it behind us instead of hoping we will have the energy at the end of the day and then it just doesn't happen (especially when you are not in first place). Overall I think we have done really well. We are going to plug on for this final week and finish with a bang! Good luck to all you amazing people who haven't lost any points.

Feuf!

>> Tuesday, February 15, 2011

I should wait until the end to say feuf but I'm already feeling relieved that we have two weeks down and only two more to go. FE-UF! I'm ready to eat everything I want to eat and not exercise. Basically this challenge is making me do all the things I need to do but didn't have the motivation to do before. I got all 72 points this week. I felt kind of like a lame-o when I couldn't eat any pizza or cupcakes at a birthday party. I hope this doesn't sound like a complaining update. I'm glad I'm doing the challenge with you guys.

Ok. So I don't know what's wrong with you people. I've decided that you are all either OCD or cheating to some degree to be getting all the points. How is this possible? Do you not give in to ANY weakness. Do you HAVE any weakness? I think we must need to make this harder.

My points where lousy in comparison and I was feeling pretty good about myself.

68.

blah. One of you better let up or you'll have to all split first prize. That would be a shame. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

This week was a little better for me in terms of not drinking any soda. I think since i'm working full time and studying for my next semester classes i don't have a lot of free time to be bored. Christy- Week 2

We had tons of parties this week with birthdays and Valentine's day. I passed up sweets at a party that only had desserts, and passed up more sweets and junk food at my daughter's birthday party. Then I had my free day for the last birthday party of the week. I got all 72 points. I have to admit that exercising every day is the hardest for me. Today I just felt blah and didn't want to do it, but I did it anyway because i couldn't stand to lose those points!

This coming week is going to be hard with a trip to Florida to visit a very close friend, who happens to be a wonderful cook... uh oh, I am in trouble!

I probably went a little overboard on that day with the sweets but oh well. I got the full 72 points again this week!! Still feeling great and hoping that I will be able to continue this even after the challenge.

I am still in the healthy challenge. My points for the week are 72. I must admit it was hard. After all it was his birthday and I thought he should enjoy it if I couldn't.

Sorry we are late getting our numbers in. This has been easier this round with my hubby along for the ride. He has done amazing considering he loves to eat and had major back surgery this year. Anyway . . . Forrest got 69 points. He caved on sugar with the girls on movie night (I held strong) and one day his back was bothering him so he skipped the exercise. I missed a point for the water. It was kind of stupid and I know I will regret it, but I just didn't keep track and let the day slip by without drinking as much as I needed to. So . . . . . 71 points for me.

I've had a hard time fitting it in with work and Jude... but really its only 30 minutes I should just try harder.
Anyway, I only exercised one day so that is -10 points
I got 62 points this week. Yikes! Next time I wont be such a big talker before hand ha ha.

My Points

I started out thinking this challenge was going to be a breeze but I that has definitely changed as the days go by. I did get all of my points (72) but I had to exercise at midnight more than once. I had sure better get healthy from this. I'm really excited for another free day. I used mine on the very first day last week because my in-laws took us out to eat and I wasn't willing to give up my fries :) Good luck to everyone this next week!

Diana's points - week 1

Okay, so looks like the competition is pretty tight this round. Sadly I didn't get the full possible points this week, but I still feel pretty good about my results. I got 70 pts. Missed one day of exercise because I just put it off and didn't do it first thing. Also, I had mentioned that there was a possible 13 points per day, but I was wrong. I was going by the point tracker from last healthy challenge that had a point for no unhealthy snacks. Anyway, so 12 points per day with a possible 72 points per week. Sorry if this has been confusing any of you! Good luck on week 2!!

I got all of my points this week! YAY! It hasn't been too bad. I do feel like I always have to be on my toes though. I've actually been having fun putting together healthy meals. As long as I have lots of fruits and vegetables around I don't feel like I'm missing out. I am training for a relay race and I feel like eating this way has helped me improve my running. I just feel better all around. So, 72 points for me too!

I got all my points this week! It wasn't easy, but I do feel a lot more healthy. If my calculations are correct, that would be 12 points X 6 days= 72 points. I did go all out on my free day after fasting. It's funny how sweet stuff tastes after being off sugar for a week. I don't always feel hungry for all the snacks, but I do think that it does help me not eat too much for my meals. I am running low on fruits and veggies, and need to get some more at the store.

I love going to Jazzercise and on the days that I don't go I enjoy getting away for a walk. I've been consistant in drinking 2 liters of water, but that is all that I drink usually. I have a fabulous nutrition shake I take twice a day. It is called reliv. Let me know if you want to know more about it.------66points for me this week. I feel great! Idid awful on my day off after fasting a pigged out.

Point Tracker and Snacks

The caffeine point is not listed on the tracker Kamilla made. I had no idea we weren't doing caffeine... luckily I don't like soda much and that goes with the no sugar rule anyway. I think that is why Lisa's points are off.

Also, are we required to eat snacks? I struggle with that. I just don't think force feeding myself is what this is all about. I find I have to shove a few carrots or a granola bar in just to get the points when I wouldn't have thought of it normally because I am not hungry for it.

Input?

P.S. Cheat day was a bad idea for me! Especially being the Superbowl. Trenton pointed out that eating all that ice cream is going to defeat the purpose of the whole challenge. oops... guilty. :)

Fast Sunday question

I was thinking about Fast Sunday, for those of us who fast once a month. What do you think? Can we not lose points on the meals/ snacks/ water we miss while fasting? Or if we don't want to miss points do we need to make this our free day? My feeling is that since fasting once a month is "healthy" it shouldn't reduce our totals, but I welcome discussion on this. It would be nice if we could decide on this quickly as it may be affecting my weekend plans (date night). Thanks!

Clarification

>> Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Kenna asked me to clarify......One free day a week is MANDATORY. Weather you choose to keep up with the program on that day is up to you. Regardless, you can only count points toward 6 days. Sometimes it's nice to just keep on going all week and then if you have a slip up on one day you can count it as your free day. Make sense?

How was everyone's first day?

Mine was so so. I've been sick so it's been harder than usual. But... I made all my points with great difficulty.

Points and Rules

>> Friday, January 28, 2011

All contestants will need to donate $15 dollars to the pot to be involved. Send it to Diana this time.

Healthy and correctly proportioned Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner- 1 pt. for each meal.

(this means one serving only, and well balanced. Use your best judgement)

Two Healthy Snacks a Day- 1 pt.

(Try to avoid processed foods. Stick with fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and dairy products. )

1 Multi Vitamin - 1pt.

( This is very important as the foods we eat this day and age just don't have the sufficient amount of Vit. and minerals we need for daily intake. If you don't take a multi. now you will see a significant difference in the way you feel.)

Exercise at least 30 min. a day - 2 pts.

(This is an additional point because we know it can be the hardest. It probably gives you the best results as far as feeling "healthy")

Drink 2 ltrs. Of Water or 67 oz. - 1 pt.

( Any liquids that you take count toward your water intake. For example: a protein shake, or 100% juice, or even milk.)

No Sugar- 2 pts.

Essentially this means NO SWEETS! Cookies, candy, soda, etc.

you can have sugar if it is in small amounts that already contain sugar like bread, and lightly sweetened cereal. Don't blatantly put it on your things that is against the rules. Use honey instead. I've found that it actually tastes better. We are giving it 2 pts. So it will be worth not spoiling your day over just 1 pt.

No Caffeine- 1 pt.

no soda, coffee, energy drinks. It's just bad for you and addictive.

No food 2 hrs. before Bed- 1pt.
At the end of the day all of your body's systems need a break from performing their functions. Like your digestive system. Your metabolism also slows down at night making it harder for your body to burn fat.

Remember... this isn't about weight loss. Although you might see results in that area. It's all about living a better life style and feeling "Healthy"

Good luck everyone! I'm really excited. If you have questions don't be afraid to make a comment or post!

you can also email. Remember the Challenge starts Feb. 1st and goes through Mar.1st.
