Snack Ideas?

>> Monday, May 3, 2010

Well, ready or not here we go! I was just wondering what everyone's favorite, "healthy" snack is for some ideas other than my own. My favorites are dried fruit, fresh fruit, string cheese. I welcome any other suggestions.

I would love to hear snack ideas too.
I am thinkin' of snacks such as carrots, celery, peanut butter, apples, triscuts?, wheat thins?, cheese slices, V8, chocolate chips j/k, and I know my mom does dried cranberries and prunes :)

Can't wait to hear everyone elses!

We LOVE apples with peanut butter on them. Plus it's a little bit of protein to get you through the day. OR you could do apples dipped in yogurt. Just don't get yoplait light. We got a TON of them for snacking turns out they have Aspertame in them. It's basically a sugar replacement. REALLY BAD FOR YOU.
Um... I also like aunts on a log... celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins.

I am thinkin the crackers and even the V8 has to much salt in it.

So some new ideas are almonds, grapes, and edamame (super yummy steamed and fun to eat from the pod).

V8 does have a lot of salt in it but does have a lot of health benefits. They have low sodium V8. I'm in love with LOw Sodium Triscuits dipped in cottage cheese. Cucumbers dipped in hummos is super yummy. Hummos is really a terrific and very healthy dip. You can make your own if you can't find it in the store. Cucumbers in vinegar and onions and salt and pepper. Don't forget raw nuts. Almonds and Pecans are my favorites. Roasted nuts don't have the nutrients that raw nuts have. Pepitos (pumpkin seedss) are really good for you. You could make your own trail mix. Banana chips are super yummy and Soy Crips. I totally ditto the edamame snack. Strawberries in yogart. Avacados are very good for you if don't OD on them. Blue Corn Chips have more nutritional value than yellow chips and that tastes great with guac or salsa or both. Just be careful with the chip proportions! I love the Mott's Organic applesauce. There's no added sugar, but it tates really lovely. That's off the top of my head. I'm getting hungry.
